I figure once in a while I have to pay respect to my blog name and post a refashion of sorts.
I had this button down in my stash for months, not because I didn't know what to do with it, but because I didn't want to sew for long time.
Everything thing I tried turned out to be a mess, so I discouraged myself from touching a sewing machine and concentrated in other things, Simple things, Like hair clips, headbands, brouches, etc. Which also explains why Janet and my nieces have tons of accessories. This, however, has been the simplest refashion I've done in months! Best of all, Janet loves it! Win-Win for everyone!
I've been dying to make a tutorial, for anything, but I really suck at it!
Here's a rough outline and some pics so you can make your own dress.
The 1st thing I did was deconstruct the shirt, Removed the sleeves, the neck, and cut along the side seams as well. I also removed and discarded the button strip on the front and sew it together to make the back panel.
You should have 2 main fabric panels, at this point you can use one of your little one's A line dresses to use as a pattern. You should also 2 pieces if lining, Front and back.
Lastly I used the Sleeves for the bottom ruffle.
If you need ANY Help, Please email me

Here's Janet Modeling the finished version:
And this is the detail on the neckline, a jeweled button, I love them, They add so much flair to any outfit.
Happy Sewing!

What an awesome refashion! I see so many little dresses online made from mens dress shirts and pillowcase and I sadly have no little girls to sew for.
